Biographical / Historical
Eduardo de Lacerda was born November 27th, 1929 in Cedros, Horta in the Island of Faial, Azores. Mr. Lacerda immigrated to the United States in 1949 and spent the next forty years in New York, twenty of those in the airline industry. After his retirement he moved to Wilmington, Delaware where he lives today. For many years Mr. Lacerda wrote poetry in Portuguese and in 1994 published a book entitled “Ecos da Saudade” or “Echoes in Longing” with the help from a grant from his native Island of Faial, Azores. In 1996 Mr. Lacerda joined a poetry group in Wilmington and started to write in English. The group “Poetry Vortex” is comprised of many artists who read their work in a variety of Local places. Mr. Lacerda is also a member of the Delaware Literary connection, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving writers in the Delaware area and promoting the literary arts.
