Biographical / Historical
Walter Edward McGinn graduated in 1917 with a diploma from the New Bedford Textile School after having completed the 3-year Day Course in Chemistry, Dyeing and Finishing. New Bedford Textile School opened as a state supported professional textile school in 1899 at 1213 Purchase Street in New Bedford. The New Bedford Textile School, which was known under that name until 1948, eventually evolved into the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
