Biographical / Historical
Harold H.J. Clasky (1896 – 1969) was born in Russia, raised in Brockton, MA and moved to New Bedford in 1931. A life insurance agent by trade, he entered public service after the death of his wife Ida, and won election to his first term as New Bedford Councillor-At-Large in 1952. He was a Massachusetts State Senator from 1965 – 1969. He was active in organizations such as the American Legion, Jewish War Veterans, and Jonah Lodge of B’nai Brith.
