Biographical / Historical
The Cooperative Learning Center was established in 1975 at UMass Dartmouth's predecessor institution, Southeastern Massachusetts University by a group of interested students, faculty and administrators. According to a 1982 press release, it was "organized to provide and coordinate services for disadvantaged students through three academic components: the Writing and Reading Center, the Mathematics and Business Center, and the Science and Engineering Center. Services included tutoring, group review sessions, workshops on study skills, and tme management. Beginning in 1976, the Center added the Disabled Student Services Office.
