Biographical / Historical
The Committee for the Status of Women grew out of an internal SMU Board of Trustee committee concerned with the equality of women on campus. In December 1980 the Board of Trustees voted to request the President appoint seven persons to serve as members of the SMU Committee on the Status of Women. Representation was to come from the trustees, the Women’s Center, Student Affairs and university matrons, as well as one ex officio representative of the President.
