Biographical / Historical
The SMTI Faculty Association was incorporated in 1966 and served primarily as a social group that met at the Lyman House. The Lyman House was at one time a private residence on the property taken by the state for the construction of SMTI. There was an open bar every Friday, a fieldstone fireplace for faculty enjoyment, a ping pong table, and a pool table. Social events such as picnics were hosted, and there was access to a canoe for use on Cedar Dell Pond on the grounds of the house. Departmental meetings were held there as well. The Faculty Senate, which was the administrative faculty association at SMTI, formed in 1965 and met at Dartmouth High School for a number of years.
