The collection consists of the subject files transferred from the Office of the Chancellor. It is arranged alphabetically with the same folder titles used by the office of origin. Three separate accessions were interfiled, since many of the folder titles are identical.

Biographical / Historical
The Office of Chancellor was created in 1991 when the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth joined the 5-campus University of Massachusetts system. Prior to this time the top university administrator was the President. Peter H. Cressy became third chancellor July 1, 1993 succeeding Interim Chancellor Joseph Charles Deck (1992-1993), whose records are housed in the Archives under URC 9. His official investiture took place March 4, 1994 (see folder 267). He served as chancellor through 1999.
