Scope and Contents
The collection consists of information on Dr. Fradkin, founder of Citizen’s Scholarship Foundation of American (CSFA), or “Dollars for Scholars,” and 22 videocassette and DVD recordings of birthday and other celebrations in his honor. His autobiography, Dollars for Scholars, is in Special Collections, LB2338.F73 2002. His oral history interview was conducted by Judy Barry for the CJC and is recording # 255-256 in MC 23-CJC. Records of CSFA are at the John Hay Library Archives at Brown University, MS 2005.036.

Biographical / Historical
Dr. Irving Fradkin was the founder of Citizen’s Scholarship for America, or “Dollars for Scholars,” an organization that provides financial support to aspiring college students. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts to Russian immigrants in 1931, Fradkin became an optometrist practicing in Fall River, and in 1958 founded Scholarship for America.
