 File — Box: 10, Folder: 19
Identifier: Folder 19

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of notes and publications compiled by Hill in his research into French pacifism. His research is recorded on 8”x 5” cards which are housed in five boxes, filed chronologically by date, then by subject. The majority of publications in the collection are French periodicals advocating non-violence, published between the years 1968 and 1987. Included are Union Pacifiste (an official publication of Union Pacifiste de France – an affiliate of War Resister’s International), Combat non-violente and Alternatives non violentes. Also, a two-week span of Le Monde newspaper and various miscellaneous publications on pacifism are included in limited runs. A small amount of personal correspondence (one folder) is also contained in the collection, most of which regards his contribution to the Biographical Dictionary of Modern Peace Leaders. Also included are his research notes compiled in preparation for this book, and teaching materials from the 1970s.

The collection is divided into seven series: notes on French pacifism between 1914-1939; correspondence; pamphlets; literature; collected academic writings; periodicals; teaching materials; Biographical Dictionary and War Resisters’ International Peace Research; note cards for other historical research; and personal writings.
