The collection consists of nine lecture/laboratory notebooks and one textbook belonging to General Cotton Manufacturing course student Frank Kallish, 1909 – 1911.

Scope and Contents The collection includes lantern slides, glass plate negatives, transparencies and photoprints. The bulk of the lantern slides primarily depict students from the New Bedford Textile School operating textile machinery and tools, engaged in classes on topics such as advanced designing, electrical laboratory, motor testing, hand warping, loom, mechanical drawing, and machine shop to name a few. The collection consists of 15 ledger-sized bound volumes and one 3-ring binder of meeting minutes, arranged chronologically. The last volume is an index, which consists of a chronological list of major topics discussed in the minutes.

Scope and Contents The majority of the collection consisted of student papers written between 1950 and 1964 to fulfill requirements of course number E401 “Report Writing” taught by Augustus Silva, English Professor and Dean of Students, New Bedford Textile Institute (Series II). Subjects include textiles, engineering, and chemistry. the collection consists of photocopies of original newspaper clippings of articles about NBIT and its faculty, staff, students and alumni. The origin of each clipping is not recorded, however, most were from the New Bedford Standard Times. It is not know who compiled the collection. The originals were photocopied and discarded.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of 236 attendance and grade registers maintained by instructors in textiles for both day and evening classes offered at the Institute between 1909 and 1968. Most registers are standard “Massachusetts School Registers” supplied by the state department of education. Collection consists of bound scrapbooks of different shapes and sizes containing pasted in or bound in samples of fabrics collected from a number of manufacturers. Most samples are of cotton fabrics, using a variety of weave techniques. Some are identified, but most are not.

The collection consists of school catalogs, bulletins, founding documents such as the charter, real estate and architectural records, acts and resolves as they pertain to the changes of the school’s name, brochures, administrative and student manuals, athletic event programs. Also includes bound records of the meeting of the instructors, 1909-1929.
